Victorian Fusee 24 Hour Dial Clock, Lovely Condition

Clockwise is delighted to offer another great example of a fusee clock dating from the 1890s.

The eight day movement has shaped shoulders to the plates with an anchor escapement and has been fully overhauled so benefits from my three year guarantee.

The twelve inch dial is in lovely condition and is signed by the maker James Edward Williams of Wilmslow with Roman numerals and 24 hour numbering which is an unusual and effective feature. The clock retains its original spade hands and the bezel locks securely into a tab.

The case and bezel have been ebonised and the circular surround is pegged to the back box in the classic manner. The back box has a hinged side door, rear access door and an usual access to the pendulum on the lower box which is by means of a cut out section, which enables the pendulum to be viewed whilst the clock is working.

James Williams was a watchmaker who operated from premises in Wilmslow so this was likely the very clock that he used in his shop.

This is one of many fusee and railway clocks I have for sale with many more coming.

Clockwise specialises in longcase and bracket clocks and with clients from the world of business, film, sport, royalty and aristocracy – yet more than happy with traditional clients – Clockwise has an unrivalled reputation for excellence and superb service.
