Smiths Empire Ships Clock, Stunning

Clockwise is pleased to have for sale this lovely eight day ships clock from the respected Smiths maker of high quality bulkhead clocks. Dating from circa 1940 this clock has a beveled glass hinged door and the dial and heavy brass case are in excellent condition; there is the usual fine timing adjustment on the dial and the original hands and bevelled glass to the hinged front door finish off this lovely piece. The high quality movement is fitted with a fine lever escapement platform and the entire piece has just been fully dismantled, serviced and cleaned. The dial is in fantastic condition and the clock is covered by my three year warranty.

The Empire name was acquired by Smiths in 1932 when they purchased English Clock & Watch

Manufacturers Ltd. from the receivers (ECWM was formed from an amalgamation of H Williamson Ltd. and Grimshaw & Baxter & J.J. Elliott in 1921). Smiths are said to have used Empire lever clocks in large numbers in marine clocks for 20 years or so after they acquired the name.

This is just one of many ships clocks that I have for sale.

Clockwise specialises in longcase and bracket clocks and with clients from the world of business, film, sport, royalty and aristocracy – yet more than happy with traditional clients – Clockwise has an unrivalled reputation for excellence and superb service.
