Lms John Walker Fusee Railway Clock, Gorgeous

I am delighted to offer another great example of a John Walker eight day fusee railway wall clock dating from the mid 1920s. This is a lovely original London Midland and Scottish Railway clock from Luton station.

The line-driven movement has rectangular screwed plates with an anchor escapement and has been fully overhauled so benefits from my three year guarantee.

The twelve inch dial is in fantastic condition and has been fully and tastefully restored with ‘B.R L.M, John Walker, 1 South Molton Street London 7131” applied. The clock retains a quality spun brass bezel and glass and restored original spade hands. The bezel locks securely into a tab.

The one piece turned oak surround has a lovely colour and patination since its restoration. The circular surround is pegged to the back box in the classic manner with the usual side inspection door and lower regulating door with fully working lock. The case has 7131 stamped to the rear, along with a similarly numbered original plaque to the side, and the dial rear has the usual pencilled notations you expect from a genuine piece of railwayana history. Inside the back box are two BR labels showing the clock was first sent back to St Pancras in May 1979 from its location in Luton, and then to the Clock and Watch Department Room 203 at Manchester Victoria in June 1979.

John Walker were manufacturers of clocks and are best known for supplying timepieces to the principal railway companies of the day. They supplied clocks and watches and also arranged maintenance contracts. John Walker started in business in 1845 and the company was still in existence as late as 1980.

This is a lovely example of an original railway clock in gorgeous condition and it’s one of many fusee and railway clocks I have coming onto the market.
