Clockwise is delighted to present for your consideration a fine 19th Century English eight day fusee timepiece dial clock. Finished in lovely mahogany with the narrow wooden surround typical of its time this is a lovely piece of furniture dating from circa 1830.
The case has a lovely patina and is of a standard pegged design with the surround pegged to the back box. The original cast bezel with convex glass closes firmly and frames the lovely twelve inch iron dial within the turned surround perfectly. The dial and falseplate are both stamped ‘Wright, Birmingham’ – they were England’s main manufacturers of white clock dials. from 1805 – 1845. Original spade hands finish off the glorious appearance. The maker’s name is present – Charles Brown of Bridport who was a watchmaker.
There is both a lower door and side door to the case and the eight day high quality movement, which has tapered shoulders to the plates (again, typical of the late Georgian/early Victorian period), has just been serviced with new line fitted and comes with my three year worldwide guarantee as standard.
